ABOUT PHIL NOYES
With a ‘hands-on’ business philosophy, Phil has forged a long-standing career by providing clients and customers with a professional food service product that produces a first class image. From 1980 to 2006, Phil was President/Owner of MGR Food Services, operator of food and beverage services for one of the world’s foremost exhibition, sports and entertainment complexes – the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park. During this time, MGR was consistently named the best convention center food service operation in the country by national trade publications and achieved the highest per-capita revenue in food and service for attendees at trade shows in the United States. In 1992 the Georgia Dome opened and, under Phil’s leadership, MGR developed the strategy for a new concept of food service and quality for NFL facilities. Measuring per-capita food and beverage revenues, the Dome ranked in the top quartile of all NFL Stadiums. In 1996, Phil led an expansion of operations to include the new Centennial Olympic Park, a 21-acre urban area designed and developed as a lasting tribute to the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.
As the President and Majority Owner of Proof of the Pudding by MGR (off premise catering division for MGR), Phil Noyes has developed exclusive contract relationships with the Carter Presidential Center, Infinite Energy Center and Arena, Buford Community Center, Douglasville Convention Center, Georgia International Convention Center, Georgia International Horse Park, Plain Delicious Airport Concepts and the Fripp Island Resort. Proof of the Pudding has also catered off premise events at many of Atlanta’s finest households, businesses, and special event facilities.
Always making community a priority, Phil has served on many boards throughout his career including the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Atlanta Community Food Bank and National Association of Concessionaires. He is a founding member of Atlanta’s Table, funded classroom construction for the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality at Georgia State University and has been named Georgia Hospitality and Travel Industry’s “Leader of the Year.” Phil’s expertise is extensive and his efforts have made a significant impact on Atlanta’s hospitality industry. We are extremely pleased to have Phil join the Hospitality Hall of Fame alongside other influential industry professionals.
