Proof of the Pudding recently hosted a thrilling Iron Chef competition at its corporate kitchen, 1175, for a group of approximately 20 guests from the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) and the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB). The event featured a fun and competitive atmosphere in which the attendees were divided into four teams and tasked with creating a memorable appetizer and entrée within one hour.
As they entered the kitchen, each guest was greeted with a glass of wine and given the rules of the competition. Various proteins—seafood, beef, and chicken—along with an array of fresh produce, grocery items, and three signature base sauces (tomato, cream, and demi) were provided for the teams to choose from. The kitchen also featured access to POP’s full produce/dairy cooler and dry storage, offering endless possibilities for creativity.
Four fully equipped cooking stations were set up in advance, complete with gloves, knives, and POP aprons to keep things moving smoothly. Guests were also provided with different types of plates for plating and presentation. The dishes were judged on taste, presentation, and creativity by a panel that included Chef Vagn and two other members of the POP team.
After an hour of intense culinary action, the teams presented their creations, with the winning team taking home the coveted Iron Chef trophy. Each guest also left with a sweet reminder of the day: a POP cookie box. It was a memorable experience in the POP kitchen filled with delicious food and fun competition!
