Sweet Recipes
From Tracey Thrasher | Controller
Growing up, I always remember my grandma and my mom baking, whether it was cookies, candies or cake. I loved being in the kitchen with them, as it was our time to talk, laugh and of course, bake. They both made it seem so simple and oftentimes did not even follow a recipe. I did not inherit that talent, but I do LOVE to bake! It brings back some of my fondest memories of my grandma. So here I share a Molasses Cookie Recipe—not hers, but one from Cook’s Illustrated (remember, I didn’t inherit that talent to cook without a recipe!). This is a nice and spicy cookie, perfect for any time of year. Follow the recipe below but add my grandma TT’s twist by rolling out the cookies, cutting them out with a round cookie cutter, then adding a dollop of jelly in the center, sprinkling with sugar and baking. May you all create wonderful, loving memories with your family and friends this year! And yes, that is molasses smeared on the recipe—remember, I’m the controller, NOT the chef!

Oreo Crust Cheesecake, AKA the best cheesecake you can make and super easy too. Note: you must buy or own a snap pan.
I love Oreo Crust Cheesecake because not only is it relatively easy to make, it has all the things I want in a dessert. Chocolate, cheesecake and strawberries—what’s not to love? Hands down the best dessert.

This is the dessert that desserts would eat if desserts could eat desserts. -JC

I have (the best) sugar cookie recipe—but I don’t have the actual recipe. My grandma/mother taught the girls in our family, if we wanted it, but it’s not written down, so it stays in the family. So every year, I eyeball ingredients per what I have been told and voila! When I’m in a pinch, I use this recipe.

I’ve probably eaten a million of these in my lifetime, produced by various female members of my family over multiple generations. Always makes me think of the holidays and family when I eat them.

This is my dad’s mom’s recipe. She taught it to my mom when my parents were still dating. We have this every holiday and for birthday dinners, celebrations or sometimes just because we were craving it. When I was in college and homesick, I would make pans of this and eat it for weeks at a time. It was good, but nothing like how mom makes it!
